Gil Vicente

Natural from Recife, the visual artist Gil Vicente works with a variety of languages, including drawings, prints, paintings, pictures and sculptures.

Although he is mostly known for his figurative paintings, his artistic career also passes through the roads of abstraction and his poetic coherence only reaffirms that subject.

Gil looks for, as well the curator Moacir dos Anjos punctuated (in Gil Vicente: drawings. 2000), to "turn the representation frees of his glance need, to undo of his capacity to capture, in the clear light that floods the eye, the elements that individualize what he draws or paints."

Gil´s professional trajectory in plastic arts began in the 70´s, when still a teenager he dedicated to the study of various techniques in Recife School of Art. By the time he finished the high school, this course was intensified. The artist participated in individual and collective exhibitions in museums and national and international galleries.
