We plan to provide an opportunity to understand biology research and learn about the career path of a young biologist. We introduce the taxonomic research process of major biological groups such as marine invertebrates, insects, land plants, seaweeds and fungi directly as researchers belonging to the National Biological Resource Center directly talk about them and utilize collection methods, field photographs, I made it possible to understand the research method.
Biologists are as diverse as the variety of creatures. There are many kinds of creatures on the planet. Biologists are studying various kinds of creatures as much as there are various kinds of creatures. Through this exhibition, I would like to make a place to introduce myself to the researchers of the National Biological Resource Center who study the taxonomy of living things.
Walk through mountains and the fields
There are many times when you look outdoors and look at the envious eyes. It's an enviable sign that you're out of your stupid office and going to a nice place in the air. However, like ordinary hikers, it is not just a well-known mountain, a scenic spot. Also, there is more to climb the mountainous mountains than to climb the mountain tops. I have almost been distressed and misunderstood as a suspicious person or a herb, but observing plants does not matter to others.

The sea, Rich repository of natural resources
In order to study invertebrates living in the sea, we use scuba diving to enter the ocean. Surveys conducted in deep seas around 20 kg diving equipment should be taken seriously in safety. Preparing for off-shore diving is also challenging and time-consuming for safe diving surveys. Marine invertebrates are often small and unobtrusive and can be considered to be trivial. However, they play a very important role in the ecosystem, such as being a food for whales and fish, eating the wreckage of dead creatures and serving as a sweeper in the water, etc. We will continue to research these invertebrate animals to inform the world I will.
There are many creatures on the planet, but the big creatures that are visible are only a fraction. There are countless unknown animals on land, but in the 70% of the Earth's surface, there are more unknown creatures than we can imagine. They will live. In particular, a small number of new invertebrates are found among the living creatures living among attached organisms such as seawater gaps and algae.

Marine invertebrate survey process 1. Research team arrives at port to investigate 2. Check various scuba diving equipment including underwater camera. 3. You should take a closer look at the equipment that is directly connected to life. 4. Do not forget to collect the sample and the tools to put it in. 5. Take the vessel carrying the equipment and move it to the collection area. 6. Everyone is a veteran of diving, but there is a sense of tension just before the arrival. 7. Finally you have to get in, deep into the ocean. 8. Underwater inspection of over 20 kilos of heavy equipment is clearly an arduous task 9. As soon as you return to the harbor, organize your equipment and sort your collection. 10. Invisible small animals are collected in a bottle and observed under a microscope in the laboratory.
A person who picks up the sounds of nature
Since I was a child, I became a scholar studying grasshopper insects. Insects are stories that emphasize insects are living things like us when we write books or teach to break the prejudice of being disgusting and disgusting creatures. Those who have been educated feel the most rewarding when they hear the story that 'I feel familiar because I know more about the insects that felt dingy'.
In the meantime, we have been working on creating a sound book that can be distinguished by the sound of insects. In order to do this, the insects collected in the mountains are also recorded in the laboratory. The insects that are caught do not immediately cry, so you need to create a suitable environment so that you do not feel threatened to record. Until now, the sound of crickets, crickets, and cicadas has come out and plans to make a map book of the grasshopper crying in the daytime. In Korea, there is also a taxonomic study on wheels, insect worms and warts that have not been studied yet, and there are plans to expand the scope to insects such as China and Vietnam.
Night lighting collection refers to the collection of nocturnal insects gathered in the light.
Collection of soil insects that are sifted through small soil insects in leaves and leaves is called collecting soil insects.
The Malay Trap is a collection of habits that go up when hitting an obstacle in flight.
Finding hope from the ocean
It is called the intertidal zone where the seawater is filled at the time of tide and the place where the sea water is falling at the tide. This is the place where I search and investigate the algae. I major in seaweeds belonging to brown algae. I am investigating scuba diving into the sea mainly for tidal flats. Breast boots must be worn to investigate the intertidal zone, and bodies must be skimmed to explore every corner of the rock, including calm water. As many as climbers who climb the mountain must go through the rocks before the tide comes in. In addition, when you do not know when the waves will rise, you should check the situation of the sea from time to time and pay attention to safety.
Seaweeds such as seaweed, seaweed, and kelp are very familiar to us. But not only that, but we use algae in various fields without knowing it. Agar extracted from mugwort, cicada, etc. is raw material of bacterial culture medium and yam. In addition, carrageenan, which is extracted from Jin Ducal and Kashiuomu, has good viscosity and is used as a stabilizer and additive in various products such as ice cream, pudding and toothpaste. In recent years, bio-energy development using seaweed biomass has been attempted in various fields such as paper production. I plan to study the species diversity, group variation, genetic diversity, etc. of this infinite possibility of seaweed.
Looking for future treasures in a dark forest
As a graduate student, I was able to collect mushrooms from Mt.I thought it was a course that meets my tendency to travel around the outdoors. I did not have to worry for a long time, and I started to study mushrooms (fungi), which is my specialty, at that time. Recently, my field of interest is researching the various usefulness of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity by artificial cultivation of mycelial cultures obtained from collected mushroom tissues and extracting natural products.
We are also studying whether it is possible to cultivate fungi, one of the fungi, and to utilize them as a biological barrier. Fungi are good organisms for the biological industry. In the future, we hope that we will be able to find global antibiotics and anticancer substances such as penicillin through continuous research. I would like to write a world-class mushroom guidebook, such as the Swiss mushroom book (Switzerland), which integrates the mushrooms of Korea and integrates the microscopic structure and substance, and makes an illustrated book that related researchers want. We will make a study environment where researchers of mushroom mushrooms can devote themselves to mushroom research and try to be the leader of Asian mushroom research.
