With some of the most important lyrics in Rio funk, the song released by Cidinho e Doca in 1994, produced by DJ Marlboro, has a timeless sound and was covered by the singer Elza Soares in 2007.

In the song, its writers sing about life in the communities of Rio de Janeiro: “I say a prayer to a protective saint / But I’m interrupted by machine gun fire / While the rich live in big and beautiful houses / The poor are humiliated, downtrodden in the favela.”

Over a sample from Bach’s ‘Partita in A minor,’ the lyrics go: “It’s the captivating flute that messes with the mind / Of those who are present, the forward girl / Goes crazy and throws herself at us / Then I said to her (Then I said to her) / Go, go with the bum bum, tam tam.”
