By Museum of Memory and Tolerance
The Memory and Tolerance Museum has decided to voice the greatest challenge humanity is facing: climate change.
Exposición temporal (2020-03-03) by Museo Memoria y ToleranciaMuseum of Memory and Tolerance
This exhibition will be at the Memory and Tolerance Museum for 6 months and will be traveling across different states in the country.
¿ SEGUIRÁS DE ESPECTADOR ? (2020-03-03)Museum of Memory and Tolerance
When we see disasters like droughts and hurricanes in the news, we attribute them to natural causes. But these are a result of a man made problem: climate change. If we continue to fail to take action, these phenomena will multiply and intensify.
LOS HUMANOS CAMBIAMOS EL CLIMA (2020-03-03)Museum of Memory and Tolerance
Since the time of the Industrial Revolution, the burning of fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas, and coal has increased exponentially, as well as deforestation and soil degradation.
This has led to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions and, as a result, global warming was triggered.
¿ POR QUÉ ESTAMOS CALENTANDO EL PLANETA ? (2020-03-03)Museum of Memory and Tolerance
WHY ARE WE HEATING UP THE PLANET?
Scientists confirm that the average global temperature of the planet has increased by approximately one degree Celsius.
COMBUSTIBLES FÓSILES (2020-03-03) by Museo Memoria y ToleranciaMuseum of Memory and Tolerance
It is urgent to reflect on our dependence on fossil fuels, but above all we want to motivate you to learn about the solutions that exist already.
¿ A QUÉ NOS ESTAMOS ENFRENTANDO ? (2020-03-03)Museum of Memory and Tolerance
Climate change is a consequence of global warming. The one-degree increase in the planet's global temperature is unprecedented in the history of humanity, so we have to take unprecedented action across all of society.
¿ CÓMO SE REGULA EL CLIMA DEL PLANETA ? (2020-03-03)Museum of Memory and Tolerance
We need to understand the consequences and causes of climate change and reflect on our unhealthy dependency on fossil fuels. We have to learn about the solutions that exist and how to apply them. We need to take action at an individual level in order to make a change.
SOMOS OCÉANO (2020-03-03)Museum of Memory and Tolerance
The museum addresses the destructive capacity of human beings and a clear example is climate change, with which we are destroying the only home we have, our planet.
SOMOS NATURALEZA (2020-03-03) by Museo Memoria y ToleranciaMuseum of Memory and Tolerance
Climate change is already triggering greater violent, ethnic and social conflicts, even to the point of genocide over the scarcity of water, food and the search for new territories to live in.
GASES DE EFECTO INVERNADERO (2020-03-03) by Museo Memoria y ToleranciaMuseum of Memory and Tolerance
We are intrinsically linked to fossil fuels: we depend on oil, natural gas and coal to carry out our daily activities.
SOCIEDAD (2020-03-03)Museum of Memory and Tolerance
We forget that our food consumption, its waste, the clothes we wear, the way we transport ourselves and build our cities, all have an impact on our planet.
SOCIEDAD DE CONSUMO (2020-03-03)Museum of Memory and Tolerance
The production and consumption of goods and services in our society has to change and it is a shared responsibility.
SOCIEDAD DE CONSUMO (2020-03-03)Museum of Memory and Tolerance
The present economic model of "extraction, production and waste" is no longer feasible, it has reached its limit. On the other hand, the new circular economy model seeks to optimize the materials that have been extracted, to lengthen the life of products and to reuse all waste instead of discarding it.
LAS SOLUCIONES YA EXISTEN (2020-03-03)Museum of Memory and Tolerance
The solutions already exist. The problem is that they are not commensurate with the political, economic and moral will to carry them out.
CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO (2020-03-03) by Museo Memoria y ToleranciaMuseum of Memory and Tolerance
Investing in nature is also key.
ECOSISTEMAS (2020-03-03)Museum of Memory and Tolerance
The main solutions focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, for example, by switching to renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power for electricity generation.
Ecotips (2020-03) by Museo Memoria y TolreranciaMuseum of Memory and Tolerance
Even if we know the solutions, the important thing is to understand that there is no time to lose: the effects will be irreversible if we do not drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
CALL TO ACTION
In this space, visitors are invited to participate in an interactive digital game so they can get an idea of their ecological footprint and will be e-mailed recommendations on changes they could make individually to reduce their impact on the planet.
ACTÚA HOY (2020-03-03)Museum of Memory and Tolerance
This crisis affects us all and to face it, action is needed from each and every one of us.
This exhibition was made possible by the collaboration of all sectors of society. Academic institutions were consulted for the revision of all contents, such as UNAM, the National Institute of Ecology and Climate Change, WRI Mexico as well as Conservation International, The National Geographic and WWF Mexico.
