Trans Joy (2023-11-03) by Texas IsaiahBallroom Throwbacks/Destination Tomorrow

Trans joy is ballroom

Ballroom has always been a safe harbor for trans youth--a place for their unapologetic expressions of who they are. In the Ballroom culture and community, trans kids get to feel seen, loved, and protected.

When I first came to ballroom, I was searching for family. I was searching for acceptance.

Brooklyn Mugler (2023-11-03) by Texas IsaiahBallroom Throwbacks/Destination Tomorrow

We're human

Trans kids have been in the cross fire of anti-trans legislation and denied gender affirming care. Against this backdrop of hurt and discrimination, there is Ballroom.

We're not here to be your enemies. We want you just to be aware that we're human, just like you are.

3 Generations of Trans Joy (2023-11-03) by Texas IsaiahBallroom Throwbacks/Destination Tomorrow

Black trans women made ballroom family

Ballroom was founded by Black and Brown trans women who created a cultural movement of freedom and liberation for the LGBTQ+ communities. Trans pioneers and icons are core to Ballroom's legacy. They created this space, that crosses generations and reaches all parts of the globe,

There would have been no movement without Black Trans Femmes. There would be no ballroom, there would be no house in ballroom community. Black trans women have used their joy, their unapologetic ness, their audacity, their allowed ness, their Blackness, and laid it at the foot of revolution.

Trans Awareness (2023-11-03) by Texas IsaiahBallroom Throwbacks/Destination Tomorrow

Rest in power O'Shea Sibley

The Trans community remembers and gives honor to the life and memory of O'Shea Sibley, taken from us because of the hate and violence against LGBTQ+ youth that still persists.

Trans awareness means reflecting on the ancestors and the other trans women who've paved the way for me, paying homage to my history.
