Since its establishment in 1983, the Rock Hall has told the stories of the music, artists, and cultural movements that form the soundtrack of our modern lives.

Level 0: Main Exhibit Hall

Level 0 is home to the Ahmet Ertegun Main Exhibit Hall. Inside, the story we tell spans generations, from the early innovators that sowed the seeds for what Cleveland radio DJ Alan Freed would coin "rock and roll" to the newly emerging musicians of today.

The first thing visitors notice at the Rock Hall is the building itself. The iconic glass pyramid with its record player plaza was designed by renowned architect I.M. Pei, and provides Cleveland's Lake Erie shorefront with one of its most distinctive features.

Level 2: The Garage

Pick up an instrument, crank up the volume and make your own music inside the museum. Designed to evoke the birthplace of rock bands for decades, The Garage is where you can take lessons and make your own music inspired by the greats.

The Garage

Your turn to play. Pick up and learn real instruments - drums, guitar, bass, and keyboards - with interactive video tutorials. Then, hit the lounge to chill with an acoustic guitar or uke, or rock out with friends, family, and Rock Hall staff musicians in the electric Jam Space.
