While best known for her musical inventiveness on the guitar, Cotten also showed great prowess on the banjo. Cotten traveled with this banjo, performing for audiences throughout the United States, as well as in places including Great Britain, China, and the U.S.S.R.

Harry Belafonte emerged as a strong voice during the civil rights movement. Belafonte and Tony Bennett were among thousands who marched from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, on March 25, 1965, in support of civil rights. Bennett had this bust sculpted for Belafonte in 2017.

In the early 1980s, Grubman began representing Bruce Springsteen, just as “the Boss” was becoming one of the biggest stars in the history of popular music. This guitar was given to Grubman by Springsteen after Grubman’s induction into the Rock Hall was announced.

Known as the “Godmother of Street Music” for her pivotal role in bringing hip-hop music to the masses, Robinson was also a talented singer and musician. She started singing by the age of 12, and once she learned to play the guitar, she was also writing music.

In 2021, Jam and Lewis released their debut album as artists, Volume One. “I think over the years, it evolved in different time periods,” Lewis says of the duo’s collaborative process. “But generally, Jimmy’s more music and I’m more lyrics. And we both do melody."
