Hidden gem

The Jardines neighborhood in the capital of Sonora houses what appears to be a shabby and deserted commercial complex, but it hides a glorious secret within.

Where legends are forged

Caballero's Team is a modest boxing gym where some of the greatest glories of the sport are currently being shaped at the global level. It is led by José Alfredo Caballero Rivera, a recognized coach in both professional and amateur boxing.

A promoter of the art of boxing

For 20 years, the award-winning instructor has visited schools and sought to instill the sport of boxing in children and young people, even earning the trainer's pride distinction from the World Boxing Council in 2018.

Championship mentality

Caballero fell in love with the organized chaos and aesthetic violence unleashed by boxing while watching Saturday fights with his father. He always knew success was within reach: "Ever since I was 19, I said I would have a world champion," Caballero recalls.

Hard work that paid off

In 2019, he was nominated as coach of the year by the same organization, as he came to be responsible for the most simultaneous champions on the planet: Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada, Miguel Ángel 'Alacrán' Berchelt, and Yamileth 'Yeimi' Mercado, all under his guidance.

A great master

With help from his team consisting of Orlando Plascencia and the León brothers, fighters like Rogelio 'Porky' Medina, Ramón 'Inocente' Álvarez, and Víctor Olivo, among others, have made their way up the world rankings thanks to his instruction.

A man of many tastes

Few know the other sides of Alfredo. He is a fervent lover of 4x4s, quarter-mile races, and even sustainable wild boar hunting. In his own words, it is what helps him relieve the stress of training champions.
