Christian and Biblical stories combined with classical themes and portraiture. Developing idealized style inspired by classical art; developing use of linear perspective. Artists, inspired by the intellectual freedom symbolized in classical art and encouraged by the Humanistic thought, sought to express the ideals of beauty and divinity.
