Ode to the dark art; photography.
In 1826, Joseph Nicéphore Niépce (1765-1833), made the first photograph. The invention of photography got diffused around the world since that day. This famous discovery completely changed our lives in any way possible. This new medium using light and photochemical reaction to process images absolutely altered the vision and the future of visual art. Today we use photography everywhere and everything need visual images to explain their purpose.Photography and got popular so fast that only in 170 years, this invention transformed everyone’s lives in any sort of way and became on of the most used medium of expression and art form. Since the day photography got invented, people are obsessed by other people’s portrait. As human we rely to expressions and faces and it makes us rely and appreciate more the art form. Since portrait are so important in art and because the photographic mediums changed the way of representing human emotions my gallery will exhibit a variety of portrait of different people all around the world As we look at photographic portrait our eyes are drawn into theirs faces in the portrait; we try to understand and rely to whom we’re seeing. We try to learn more about their lives and culture through the print and it will make us search for more information about the pieces. This bank of 100 images is built to be appreciate by a large group of people including amateur or professional photographer, photojournalists, historians, sociologist as well as people just in need of a new cultural and artistic experience. Photographs are places in chronological order to help the viewers understand the historical context of the photographs.This exhibit is created like a chronological photojournalistic document exhibiting the photographic-portait history and a representation of the cultural differences accessible with the invention of photography taken around the world between 1840-2009.
