The oil paintings by artists like Yang Feiyun, Chen Yifei, and Chen Danqing draw on Western painting in both techniques and cultural significance, importing them into a realistic context in China.
Chen Yifei's paintings feature peaceful, soft, and beautiful scenes where a touch of Oriental culture is integrated into American Photorealism.
Classical realist artists use Western painting techniques and endow their works with Chinese essence.
He Duoling's realistic paintings show an influence from Andrew Wyeth, a contemporary American realist painter. In his paintings, emphasis is put not only on realism but also on humanism, as they carry a human touch and endeavor to create an artistic realm.
Yang Feiyun pays homage to masters of Classicism including Velazquez and Rembrandt. His works entail his own sentiments.
All of the artists mentioned above happen to make full use of the painting language of Classical Realism.
It seems that the growing Chinese oil painting cannot avoid mastering the idiomatic language of oil painting. It is against such a background that these classical realist artists take up new responsibilities for the development of Chinese painting.
