The exhibition

The exhibition presents, through the work of renowned professionals in the field, irreverent and conceptual dog houses in a pioneering exercise of scale that takes into account contemporary society’s relationship with its pets.

Architecture for Dogs' explores an original way of thinking

Creating aesthetically refined houses for dogs of the most diverse breeds.

Presented by architects and designers from different parts of the world, the 15 dog house projects - which can be seen in the exhibition - are inspired by the specific characteristics of different breeds and are signed by names such as Kenya Hara, Kazuyo Sejima, Sou Fujimoto, Kengo Kuma, among others.

Occupying the entire cultural center, the projects - featuring a wide variety of forms, materials, and construction techniques - reflect both the inspiration and the challenges of designing at a new scale, as well as portraying the affectionate relationship and the growing importance of these animals in contemporary life, which also represents changes in societal habits.

Architecture for Your Dog Too

The exhibition also proposes the creation of an online database that allows users to access diagrams, images, and videos of the exhibited pieces so they can be reproduced.

This initiative makes the projects of these internationally recognized professionals accessible. The platform also allows people from around the world to share their own proposals on the theme through the link: http://architecturefordogs.com/

About the exhibition, Natasha Barzaghi Geenen, Cultural Director of JHSP, states:
“it is an unusual way of showcasing the creative capacity of great architects, who are challenged to think at a completely new scale - and based on premises that are uncommon in their daily work - making a conceptual design exhibition be perceived by the public in a fun and accessible way.”
