The word transvestite in Brazil is in the social imaginary synonymous for prostitute, we live since we were young with a stigma and prejudice that round us and it is present in dead numbers, invisible and written in pencil.

Who remembers the hundreds of transvestites and transsexual women murdered every year in the country? Who mourns their deaths? The survivors of an ongoing genocide, the question remains: how to move on, breathing and alive? When so many do not reach the age of 35.

In their homes, on the street, or in the sea, they show themselves as people like everyone else with their study, work, and leisure routines, in a movement that is difficult for those who are continually described and read as freaks.

Far from any nomenclature, category or acronym, interrupting with a unique framing of their bodies and identities. 

In a disruptive perspective, Dan Agostini creates in seconds, the time it takes to take a picture, a possible and safe space for these girls to be who they are.

Here they become banal, common, trivial and ordinary, inscribed in the urban landscape of the city even under the sun of a beach.

In this sense, Dan's photographs are like an altar worshipping his transgender identities in life and in memory, and an invitation to critical fabulation.
