The museum is located in the old city of Umm Al Quwain

The museum has a special place in the memory of its people. It was founded by Sheikh Rashid bin Majid Al Mualla when he moved from Al Siniya Island to Umm Al Quwain and made it the headquarters of the government in 1768 AD until 1969 AD.

The fort witnessed official and religious ceremonies and was associated with people's minds. Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Mualla restored and maintained it and then transformed it into a national museum that includes the history and heritage of the Emirates.

The museum is divided into a section for the heritage of the ruling family and an antiquities section, which is a room for the sea, a second room for folk crafts, a third room for weapons, in addition to the kitchen, prison, al-Arish and a model of a sailing ship.

The devoted room

A room has been devoted to displaying important Umm Al Quwain documents, which contain the first passport issued in Umm Al Quwain, the Trucial Emirates passport, the first driver's license, the first commercial license, and the government's seal.

It also contains a set of postage stamps for the emirate, a hand-written Qur’an dating back to the year 1800 AD, and various other ancient documents.

As for the military room, it includes a set of old car number plates, driver's licenses, old military uniforms, Islamic shields, and a group of old photos.

The Sheikh's room

Distinguished by the spirit of originality and includes all the authentic Arab customs and traditions. It has a special large place on the upper floor of the fort, overlooking the inner courtyard.

The Sheikha’s room has a special feature in order to preserve the privacy of women. It consists of a bedroom that has all the room’s necessities, including a shubriyeh (bed), a Mandoos, a perfume box, a manz (baby bed) and some utensils. Attached to this room is the Harem  Majlis, which is a full-fledged assembly used by the sheikha's female visitors who come to greet her.

There is also a small corner for taking memorial photos in the heritage style, which is the documentary film room with a painting of some of the historical events that took place in Al-Manshar Tower inside the fort.

In this room, there is also a set of old tools that are used in documentation, such as the camera, the radio, the Beshtakhta, the old telephones, and the typewriter.

As for the sea chamber, it contains models of ships diving and trade, fishing nets, diving tools such as the compass, weaning, scales, pearl sifting sieves, and the shifa tree that grew at the bottom of the sea, and was used to indicate the locations of pearls.

Al Hosn Kitchen

The Kitchen displays the necessary and indispensable kitchen utensils, such as pots, bowls, mashkhaleh, mahmas, molasses, trays and coffee pots.

The Weapon Room

Contains the weapons that were used in hunting and wars, types of rifles, swords and daggers that were inherited by the Al Mualla family from grandfather and types of pistols and a belt for bullets.

There was a room attached to the outlaws, which was the prison. In it there is the (al-Hataba), which is a large wood through which an iron tube extends, in which the imprisoned man puts his feet and then they close its ends.

The Arish

The Arish or Barasti which is a building of daun (palm fronds). Residents used to build it and live in it in the pre-oil period, especially in the summer due to the high temperatures. Some of them contain a bargeel that receives the air into the arish.
