The chapel was originally built for the religious services of the Baron de Nova Friburgo's family. At the time of the Presidency of the Republic, it was used as a visiting room, returning to function as a chapel during the funeral of President Afonso Pena in 1909.
Chapel wall, with original decorative ornaments, in stucco and detailed in gold, which refer to floral motifs and Christian symbols, the latter, despite the secularity of the State, guaranteed by the first republican Constitution, enacted in 1891.
