Museu da República

Museu da República
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The chapel was originally built for the religious services of the Baron de Nova Friburgo's family. At the time of the Presidency of the Republic, it was used as a visiting room, returning to function as a chapel during the funeral of President Afonso Pena in 1909.

Built in agate, wood, marble and gilded bronze. Despite looking like a liturgical piece, it functioned as a safe, used to store valuables.
