J. Quinn

I am an artist from Nashville, Tennessee.

I have a rare neurological condition called synesthesia that influences my work, where information that is meant to stimulate one of the senses stimulates several of the senses.

Being a synesthete...

I see sounds, music, feelings, and voices as colour.

GIRL - THE INTERNET by J. QuinnARTXV

I am passionate about...

introducing emotion and humanity into the digital space and to show just how vibrant the world can be through the eyes of someone with autism.

When I'm creating...

I can get things out more clearly. It is the only way I've really ever been able to accurately describe my autism and the differences I experienced growing up.

A lot of my art comes from old pots and pans...

I use the copper on the bottom and use different angles and light reflections with it.

It really reflects my synesthesia and how I see things with textures that flash across my eyes whenever I experience a sensation.

ROSEGOLD - ASHLEY MONROE by J. QuinnARTXV

I have major sensory issues because of my autism...

so I have aversions to different textures and touch. It was frustrating at first because the different touches of paint were too much for my body, so I was very lost for a while until the age of digital art.

The first time I went on photoshop, something just clicked within me.

I hope my art gives some sense that...

you’re not alone, that other people are going through the same things and have experienced it.

That’s why I think ARTXV is so big, because it gives that representation that hasn’t really been there before - and an accurate one - we are autistic and expressing our art.
