The venue at 20 Main Square, launched in June 2021, hosts festival meetings, thematic meetings with guests from the worlds of art, music, film and literature, myriad workshops for children, families and adults, film screenings, book launches and concerts.

It is the starting point for literary guided tours organised by KBF – operator of the Krakow UNESCO City of Literature programme.

It also hosts meetings as part of the Po\wolna Sobota meetings on Saturdays, exploring themes of mindfulness and slow living, hosted by Kraków5020

Strolls with our four-legged friends, and walks exploring Krakow’s nativity scenes, architecture, local culture and literature in the footsteps of authors.

There are always plenty of opportunities for walking in Krakow! KBF prepares myriad suggested walking routes for kids and adults, and hosts guided tours.

Cracovian nativity scenes captivate us, bring smiles to our faces, bring us joy and take us to a magical world of the imagination.

They are a symbol of festive Krakow, and thanks to a joint initiative between KBF and the Museum of Kraków, we have been admiring them in the city space since 2015.

Each year, from early December until the end of January, we can marvel at nativity scenes made for past competitions, as well as those commissioned especially for the occasion.

Each nativity scene is unique, and traditional elements are frequently accompanied by references to current events. Each construction has its own history which we learn during themed guided walks and engaging urban games.

In 2018, when temperatures dropped below zero, KBF prepared an ice skating rink in the heart of Kazimierz – perfect for fans of winter sports to glide around and admire demonstrations of figure skating.

Over the years, KBF has held many events in the district, including celebrations of Hanukkah (with the Galicia Jewish Museum and the Jewish Cultural Festival) and an exhibition exploring the history of Jewish sports club prepared by the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow.

Once a quarter, the ICE Kraków Congress Centre turns into a multistorey playground, hosting myriad attractions for families with children for four hours.

During the event, young Cracovians and visitors take part in artistic and culinary workshops, physical activities and demonstrations by emergency services organised by KBF and co-hosted with Kraków5020 since November 2022.

Pierogi Festival

Filled with meat, vegetables or fruit, pierogi are Poland’s topmost culinary achievement! They are the protagonists of one of Krakow’s tastiest culinary festivals, organised by KBF and the Krakow Merchant Congregation at the Mały Rynek between 2003 and 2019.

Where do Cracovians spend weekends in the summer? The answer is simple – in Krakow’s many parks, where we have been hosting Krakow Picnics until 2021.

Events include artistic and sports workshops for kids and adults, dances with live music and outdoor film screenings – and there are always plenty of food trucks!

St. John’s Fair

Alchemists, comedians, courtiers, knights, falconers, artisans… We encountered them all at the foot of Wawel Hill during St. John’s Fair, exploring the history of Renaissance Poland and Europe and organised by the City of Krakow and KBF until 2021.

Dachshund Parade

Krakow abounds with sausage dogs and their owners, and they flock to the annual Dachshund Parade co-organised with Radio Kraków until 2019.
 
As well as the pageant and competitions, you can seek advice from canine experts and even adopt a pet from the local shelter.

Colourful staircase

Festivals organised by KBF frequently leave a permanent mark on the city. A great example is the colourful staircase at Tatrzańska Street, prepared in 2013 as part of the ArtBoom Visual Arts Festival.

In 2021, the staircase was renovated and adorned with excerpts from 32 authors with close links to Krakow, including Zbigniew Wodecki, Wisława Szymborska, Sławomir Mrożek, Stanisław Lem, Jerzy Plich, Czesław Miłosz and Stanisław Wyspiański.
