KBF publications

KBF is more than just festivals, exhibitions, performances and other cultural events. It’s also publications covering myriad forms linked with the  institution’s activities.

“Kraków Culture”

Published by KBF, the “Kraków Culture” quarterly presents a summary of everything in the coming season: the best, most interesting and inspirational cultural events responding to and shaping the city and its community.

“Kraków Culture”

Events, phenomena, people, the latest news, opinions and reflections of experts, columnists and artists – all this in an attractively-presented, bilingual free magazine available online and in print.

“Czas Literatury”

“Czas Literatury” is an independent literary quarterly magazine published since 2018. The publication is aimed at readers interested in Polish and world literature who aren’t necessarily experts. 

It features interviews, reviews and discussions, tributes, translations including from minority languages and much, much more. The quarterly is written and edited by some of the most popular individuals from literary circles. Contributors include Sylwia Chutnik, Grzegorz Jankowicz, Tomasz Pindel, Marek Bieńczyk, Anna Marchewka and Małgorzata Lebda.
The first 18 editions of “Czas Literatury” were published by the Kraków Library.

“Kraków i Świat”

The monthly “Kraków i Świat” features interviews, reportages, opinion pieces, essays and even comic strips. All texts have Cracovian themes.

Authors contributing to the “Kraków i Świat” monthly include Witold Bereś, Krzysztof Burnetko, Krzysztof Materna, Mieczysław Czuma, Magda Huzarska-Szumiec, Ewa Lipska and Łukasz Maciejewski.

“Kraków Culture – Karnet”

Formerly a printed monthly magazine and now an online resource providing extensive information on Kraków’s cultural life. 

Concerts, exhibitions, theatre performances, literary and interdisciplinary events – “Kraków Culture” provides a full review of local events in a single place.

Tourist publications

The publications are prepared for tourists and visitors to Krakow, as well as locals who want to get to know their city better. They include the Kids in Kraków map and guide, the InfoKraków map, and worksheets for children titled Discover Kraków.

Krakow UNESCO City of Literature publications

Krakow has been a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network since 2013. The aim of the UNESCO City of Literature sponsorship programme is to support local literary circles. 

This includes the UNESCO City of Literature Prize providing financial support to authors, translators, editors and illustrators in Krakow.

UNESCO City of Literature Prize

Past editions of the prize, established in 2020, have featured 110 authors submitted by publishers from all over Poland. Award-wining literary projects include those by W. Bawołek, W. Bonowicz, K. Dąbrowska, J. Kornhauser, R. Krynicki and M. Heydel.

Books sponsored by the KMLU

The programme provides sponsorship and promotion of books published in Kraków. KBF supports sustainable development of the publishing industry, bolstering Kraków’s literary heritage and maintaining the city’s image.

KBF also publishes detailed festival programme brochures helping audiences find their way around myriad events. They are also goldmines of information about guests and ideas of each event.
