It is located in the heart of the historical part of Trypillia. Adjacent to the museum, a monument pays homage to Vikentiy Khvoika – the pioneering discoverer of the Trypillian culture and other ancient cultures in Ukrainе.

The museum displays artifacts spanning Kyiv Oblast's ancient history: from Stone Age to Paleolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic, Trypillian culture, Bronze Age, Scythian era, early Slavs, Kyivan Rus', Cossack era, and ethnographic exhibits of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
