Khvostenko-Khvostov made this design of a stage curtain specifically for 'The Love for Three Oranges' opera by Sergei Prokofiev at the Kharkiv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The opera did not come into production but this avant-garde design was exhibited for the first time in 1927 at the exhibition of ARMU (Association of Revolutionary Art of Ukraine) in Kharkiv.
The painting is currently in the collection of the National Cultural, Artistic and Museum Complex.
