Makovytsia Mountain is 984 meters high and is one of the highest peaks in the vicinity of the city of Yaremche. From the top, one can see panoramas of picturesque mountain landscapes: the Yavirnyk Ridge, and the peaks of Khomyak, Sinyak, and Dovbushanka.
The top of Makovytsia and its slopes are crippled by trenches dug during the First and Second World Wars. Heavy battles took place here during these periods.
The name of the peak comes from the word makivka — "the top" in Ukrainian.
