In November 2006, the Luciana Matalon Foundation hosted an exhibition in collaboration with the Fondazione Palazzo Albizzini Collezione Burri in Città di Castello.
Alberto Burri is one of the most important Italian artists of the twentieth century, one of the protagonists of the European informal.

An experimenter, he immediately paid great attention to the quality of the materials he used.
His art attracts criticism and even complaints for having challenged the then current art system, which did not allow "dirty rags and other unsanitary material" to enter the sacred space of the painting.
His vision of art was always one and the same: investigate matter to find beauty, never exploit it for the representation of an existential drama.

Colours, matters, surfaces, light and proportions
are offered as the natural revelation of the extreme scene of representation caught at the conclusion of twentieth-century abstraction, which says that the future of painting is still painting. A painting that no longer has anything to do with the commedia dell'arte.
