Darren Hall
Darren is an artist from Oxfordshire, UK. With ADHD, PTSD and brain injury, Darren sought out art as a form of therapy and self expression. Darren feels lucky that his creative side of his brain is still so active.
Experiencing multiple life changing accidents and events...
throughout his life and the physical, mental and emotional toll they had on him, Darren began his artistic journey from a young age and it has ever since become therapy and a way to occupy his mind from trauma.
At the age of three: "The bug for art to calm me started."
During his recovery...
Darren did many hours of ink drawings to control all of the memories, anxiety and boredom that followed so many operations.
His art style varies...
to help combat each mood cycle that can visit at any given moment. Abstract art can be used for calming but also for explosive moods and his other styles are more calming with gentle brush strokes.
His short term memory after the accident...
has had a great impact on his art, causing him to change direction multiple times as he paints as different visions come to him.
Darren is entirely self-taught...
which has given him his own unique approach to and definition of art.
Out of all the medically taught skills to cope with his brain processing, Darren says that art remains by far the best therapy.

Our art is no different to other artists...
we just have fewer capabilities in certain areas of life, not in our artistic ones.
