The Archaeological Museum of Đerdap in Kladovo is a part of National Museum in Belgrade. Archaeological Museum in Kladovo was established with the aim of integrating the protection of the archaeological heritage of the Danube in the area of ​​the wider region of Gvozdena Vrata – Djerdap and the overall presentation and promotion of this significant heritage.

It is one of the few specialized museums in Serbia, one of two archaeological museums. It was opened in 1996 in a space constructed as a museum building, which also distinguished it from other museums in Serbia.

The museum space is 815 square meters with two halls of exibition. Trough the smaller space, visitor is by panels with photos informed about a story of archaeologicall excavations of the Djerdap Region from 1960s to 1980s. Main exibition with almost 2000 exibited artefacts from which some of them are world unique, is covering a time span from 7th millennium B.C. to 18th century A.D.

Luxurious Roman bronze lamp with mask handle was most probably imported to Moesian Danube shore, originally made, most probably in Egipt (Alexandria).

Roman Gravestone (End of 1st – beginning of 2nd century A. D.) by Archaeological Museum of Đerdap and Unknown authorMuseums of Serbia

Stelae of M. Titius Proculus, who originates from Rome. He was Roman knight, soldier, firstly of cohort I Alpinorum then, legion IIII Flavia. The monument with a representation of a running deer wich is rarely shown on tombstones, originally from first two  centuries A. D., was used as an element of masonry construction of Late Antiquity fort in Rtkovo.

Roman vessel with a representation of human face in grotesque manner. It is believed that it had a protective role, whether it be protecting the family and their house and possesions, the dead or the content of the vessel.

Relief of the god Mithras (2nd – 3rd century A.D.) by Archaeological Museum of Đerdap and Unknown authorMuseums of Serbia

Fragmented relief with a representation of scenes from the life of Mithras, originaly Persian, eventually also a Roman god. The relief is consisted of images of ritual sacrification of the bull, in central part of the monument and fragments of scenes with the Mithras birth and his miracle of making the water runs from the stone, in upper part.

Statue of Jupiter (3rd century A.D.) by Archaeological Museum of Đerdap and Unknown authorMuseums of Serbia

Statue made from marble representing Roman god Jupiter seated on high trone with an eagle standing on thunderbolt or stack of thunderbolts by the left leg of the deity. Below the statue on the plinth is a Latin inscription dedicated to Jupiter Montanus (Mountainous).

Fragmented torso of a naked male statuete, modelled in the maner of the Classicist style of Greek sculptures of young Deities (Heracles, Apollo) from the middle of the 5. century B.C.

Bronze statue showing a scene of boy pulling out a thorn out of his foot. Such a representation was common from what is called „genre“ scenes in Roman provincial art in the period around first half of 3. century.

Large vessel made of ceramics called pithos used for storaging large amounts of, usually, cereals, found in late Roman fort on the bank of Dunav.

Pair of fibulae (5th century A.D.) by Archaeological Museum of Đerdap and Unknown authorMuseums of Serbia

Pair of silver and gilded Bow brooches with triangular head–plate and rhomboid like foot. The bow is short and semicircular in the cross–section. On the angles of the foot and head–plate are button–like knobs, decorated with incisions.

A pair of almond–shaped star–like ornaments is on the head–plate. The objects are made in the maner common for Germanic peoples from the period of Great Migration of Peoples, and they are found in a grave.

Fragment of fresco (14th century A.D.) by Archaeological Museum of Đerdap and Unknown authorMuseums of Serbia

Fragment of fresco painting with a representation of human figure found in layer of rubble of Medieval church. Only the part of the face, presumably from a figure of saint, is preserved and a part of cyrillic inscription.
