Half a century of an urban culinary adventure

Roberto Nava Lopez,  originally from Jalisco, is a former merchant who own the seafood cart “Don Robert”. Roberto, since 1969 came to Culiacan whit his wife in a search of hope of an opportunity to grow in life.

In Culiacan downtown, near the streets of Rafael Buelna y Ruperto Paliza, whe can find a mural and a car painted by sinaloans young artists as an artistic project on Don Roberts Seafood Cart.

Day by day

5 o'clock in the morning, time to go to the market and get the daily ingredients; such as, shrimp, octopus, fish, and clams, which are the favorite dishes.

A job of decades

“Here everything is prepared old-fashioned way, but with the same intention and willing”. Also, because “I don’t want to stop because hinges rust” these are some quotes Don Robert say daily to keep the attitude and good humor.

An Urban Tradition

In the Northwest of Mexico, it is common to find seafood carts, especially in coastal cities. In Culiacán, it is common, although there is a majority that sells tacos de asada. Don Robert has earned an indisputable place in the gastronomic panorama of the City.

A tradition for the next generations

After half of a century, Don Robert is still working hard, waving everyone, creating a community who nowadays recognizes him as an Icon in the city.
