What is Carakana?

Carakana is a social enterprise which facilitates the transfer and preservation of indigenous skills and cross stitching in production of quality handmade items for sustainable livelihoods and well-being of the creators. The Carakana women share their craft through vivid horses.

Mental Shift

"My name is David and I am a person living with disabilities.  
Before this, I had no way of earning money but now I am socially and financially empowered by Carakana. I used the money to buy livestock. My hopes for the future is to stand on my own feet ."

"My name is Dorcas and I am living with disability. Our only challenge was that the colors of the threads were too similar and it would have been easy to make mistakes. We shared the money paid and I used my share to complete my new house, all this was made possible by Carakana.
