Who is Arts Council England?
The Arts Council England is the national development agency for creativity and culture. It supports the creative lives of young people in school, at home and in their social lives.
What is the Culture Through Our Eyes' Project?
The idea for the project was birthed when the Staff at Arts Council England and Google Arts & Culture joined forces to spotlight the exceptional work being produced by Black creatives and organisations within the Arts and Culture sector. Using dance, music, and art, the collection centres on amplifying stories of identity exploring what it truly means to be Black and British.
Creating the collection
In celebration of Black History Month, we partnered with three organisations from across England to showcase the incredible work of several Black creatives. This collection sheds a light on Black British culture both here and abroad, covering stories from each organisation’s archives to the present day.
