The museum is located on the outskirts of Obukhiv, on the street which also bears the name of the Ukrainian poet, translator, and literary critic Andriy Malyshko.

The museum's opening took place in 1991 on the initiative of the widow of the writer and his niece in the house where Andriy Malyshko was born and lived for some time.

The exposition is divided into two parts. The first is dedicated to the life and work of Malyshko. Here are family photos, documents, films, books, and paintings from the family collection, and the poet's personal belongings, such as the typewriter and his work table.

The second part makes up an ethnographic exhibition of the southern Kyiv region, including folk costumes, embroideries, towels, furniture, and other household items of the early 20th century.

At the end of 2020, the estate underwent significant repairs, and the museum was reconstructed, making it an authentic house of the early 18th century.
