Perennial herbaceous plant, with evergreen leaves. Its flowering announces spring with shades from purple to blue. Its long stems "crawl" among the undergrowth grass making it one of the most widespread species. The Latin name of the genus, Vinca, derives from the verb "vincio" which means "to bind", the way in which its soft and prostrate stems creep between the herbs and slide on the ground, as if to keep it tied to the ground.
